Lithuania's Winter Olympics team has removed an Estonian ice skating coach from its roster on the eve of the figure skating events in Milano Cortina.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys called the decision to disqualify Ukrainian skeleton racer and flag bearer of the Ukrainian national team at the XXV Winter Olympic Games Milan-Cortina 2026,

Americans who top the podium at the Milan Cortina Games will be in line for a $37,500 bonus. Their competitors could collect as much as $800,000.

The bid to win a medal is more elusive for some than others. In fact, 84 of the 122 teams have never won a medal in the Winter Olympics. The United States won its first medal in the 1924 Chamonix Olympics, the first winter games held in modern history, along with seven other teams, including Canada and Great Britain.

There are few opportunities to mount an event of this scale, but the Olympics host country showed what it was made of through performances by Mariah Carey, Andrea Bocelli and Sabrina Impacciatore.
